Why Golden?
The seasonal cycles of Earth are a beautiful teacher. Each fall, the leaves let go, and the animals slow down. Many traditions believe this is when the veil — the permeable boundary between the living and the spirit world — thins. It's an invitation to grieve, to release like the leaves, to slow down like the animals, to connect with our ancestors and reflect on what's passed.
This transitional season prepares us for winter, when Mother Earth does her work below the surface, nurturing the seeds we plant. Our human experience of winter, however, tends to be the opposite: holiday busyness, end-of-year craziness, and the pressure of resolutions that demand we be better than last year (a secret: you don't need to be better).
We selected Golden, CO intentionally. This beautiful town has served as a physical and spiritual threshold for thousands of years. Long before it became a stop for miners and explorers to gather supplies and prepare for the journey into the Rocky Mountains, the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho peoples used these lands for their water, plants, and strategic advantages.
What if you entered winter with more capacity? With less pressure to do more, trusting that, like Mother Nature, your body and spirit are doing the inner work below the surface. Nurturing the seeds of intention you plant, so that when spring arrives, you're ready.
A read, write, yoga retreat is a long weekend that gives you space to slow down, reading to inspire you, writing to release what your body has been storing, food to nourish you, and gentle yoga to ground your body.
